Baby Booties

Who doesn't love baby booties?! I'd been wanting to make some when I came across this amazing website. I particularly loved the "Stardust Shoes" by Joanna Armour -- and that's the pattern I used for these sweet booties made completely from fabric remnants I had stuffed away. For the lining, I used scraps from old sweaters... It was an 80% lambs wool/20% angora sweater I'd gotten from Goodwill and is incredibly soft.

On another one of your blog postings you mentioned modifying the stardust pattern a bit to accomodate the heavier interior fabric....would you mind to share your modifications and how you adjust for different sizes? Thanks!

modifications

Was it me who talked about that stuff? I don't remember that! My brain IS a bit fuzzy these days :) As far as sizing-- there's a similar pattern that has both 0-3 & 3-6 mos at: http://www.poopockets.com/free/footies/footiepattern.htm I generally use baby Sage's feet because his feet are huge and the pattern sizing never fits anyways! I would suggest using a bit more elastic for the opening when sizing us as well, so the big feet will actually go into the shoe.

Working with extra fabric can be tricky... I'm not the best person to ask about it though, as I just slog through. Going slow and being patient is what works for me. I'm not sure that pattern modification would would for this aspect. Check out http://stardustshoes.blogspot.com/2006/10/cloth-shoe-pattern.html for the original pattern and perhaps ask Joanna for suggestions.
