Padded and Covered Baby Clothes Hangers
To make these baby clothes hangers I bought small wooden hangers in the hope that the hooks would come off to make it easier to sew, but they did not come off! I wound strips of wadding, bandage style along the length of the hangers then wound a length of thread over the wadding to hold it in place. This gives them a quilt effect. Make sure to finish off the thread neatly and securely. The material to cover the wadding was measured to fit the hangers and machine sewn at each narrow end. The hanger was placed into the "pocket" then hand stitched the top by turning in the material neatly. To cover my small stitches I sewed on a length of daisy ribbon trim I found in the shop. On some of the baby clothes hangers I have used lace. A simple slip stitch was used to hold the trim in place.
These hangers give a great decorative touch and are great for giving handmade baby clothes as gifts.
