Kimono fabric skirt Aplique vest Original fabric

I made a simple gathered skirt using a fabric remnant from an unpicked cotton kimono. The fabric was 142 x 35 centimeters. I measured my girls waist (50cm) and doubled this number (100cm). I then cut the excess fabric off. Hemmed the bottom and rolled over the top, and hemmed it using a zigzag stitch. I turned the fabric inside out and sewed up the side seam. I left a gap to insert the elastic and then sewed it shut. With the material left over I cut out a couple of the flower motifs and appliqued them onto a plain white vest.
